How do I download, install, and use the Office 365 Web Browser version?

This article describes how to install Exponam.Connect on a Windows PC or Mac for using Excel within a Chrome or Edge web browser.  (Note that these are the only supported browsers.  Safari is not supported.)  If you are using an installed version of Excel on Windows or Mac, please see the instructions at the respective links:  Windows, Mac.   

If you are on a Windows PC, it is strongly suggested to use Exponam.Connect Pro on an installed version of Excel rather than via the Web Browser.  The Pro version, available on installed Excel for Windows is more powerful, faster for retrieving data, and easier to install and configure.  (The Pro version does not require the Utility application described below.)

Exponam.Connect for Web runs with a companion application, Exponam.Connect Utility, which must be installed on the PC or Mac.  The Utility application runs in the background.  If you attempt to use the Exponam.Connect Excel Add-in while the Utility is not running, you will receive a message to start the utility.

 

Exponam.Connect Utility Installation

Download and install the Exponam.Connect Utility using the appropriate link based on type of machine:

Windows   ---   Mac (with Chrome)

After installing the downloaded Exponam.Connect Utility application, start the application. 

(*Note that use will be easiest if you set the Utility application to autostart on your machine.)

Click the Gear icon and click to "Download Manifest File."  Choose a location to save on your computer that will be easy to access in the future.

 

Configuring Exponam.Connect Excel Add-in on Office 365 Web Excel

Open Web Excel in Chrome or MS Edge browser.  Note that the Exponam.Connect Add-in will not work with Safari.  If you wish to use other browsers, you may try them - but only Chrome and Edge are supported.  Select the Add-ins icon in the Home toolstrip.

Click More Add-ins

Choose My Add-ins, Manage My Add-ins and "Upload My Add-in"

Select the Manifest file you saved to your machine during the step above.  You will now see "Exponam" in the Toolstrip.

You are now ready to use the Excel Add-in as per the usage instructions.  Note that this configuration step will need to be re-performed periodically when the "Exponam" item does not appear.

Using Exponam.Connect for Web Excel

Usage of Exponam.Connect for Web is identical to usage of Exponam.Connect Mac.  Please see the usage section of Exponam.Connect Mac for details.
