The Exponam.Connect Add-in comprises two distinct sets of capabilities:
- Accessing Data in Excel, and
- Executing ML Models in Excel
DATA ACCESS
Adding tables from Delta Sharing (Databricks)
- Click “Read from Delta Sharing”
- Click the Delta Sharing Icon in the top right corner.
- Select the .share file provided by your Databricks administrator
Importing Data
- Select a table
- Select columns to include and data to filter
- Move columns into desired order (drag by column headers)
- Import to Excel
Features
Create Favorites
Select columns and apply filters. When the view is complete, click the gold star and save your favorite.
Live Tables and Pivots
- Add a PivotTable to your Excel import by selecting where to add the Pivot and then select what data element should be placed on the pivot’s rows. The data will be aggregated as possible. Once imported modify the PivotTable as desired in Excel.
- Make the data sheet live by selecting Live Refresh and setting a refresh interval.
- After importing, check the refresh status, pause, resume, refresh immediately and update the interval using the Schedule from the Ribbon bar.
Quick Import
To import data without going into the Exponam Toolbar, right click within a cell in your spreadsheet. Select “Import from Delta Sharing.” Select your table or favorite filtered view to import.
ML Model Execution
Configure Models for Direct Access
Click the Model Serving icon:
- (Note) Model Execution is a premium feature which requires a paid or trial license
- Click the (+) button to add your Model Serving Endpoint and a bearer token (PAT). See setup video: https://youtu.be/CQ1K2nVeqIM
Select the desired model and follow the UI prompts to build a custom Excel function. Parameter values may be entered as discreet values or as excel cell references.
Once the function is complete, click “Apply” to populate Excel with the function. The Excel custom Function may then be utilized just like any other Excel function. Copy/paste it to other cells; click and drag to populate down a spreadsheet of values; etc.
