How do I download, install, and use the Mac version?

Mac Exponam.Connect

The macOS version of Exponam.Connect is designed to work within the limited capability set available on the macOS version of Excel.  The macOS version is a great tool for accessing smaller data sets; however, power users who routinely work with large amounts of data are encouraged to use Exponam.Connect Pro on a PC.  Data import speeds are much faster on the PC platform – a 1.1 million row file is imported on a PC in 12 seconds, whereas it takes 10 minutes on a Mac.

 

Mac Exponam.Connect Product Installation

The Mac Exponam.Connect Excel Add-in runs with a companion Exponam.Connect application which is installed on computer and runs in the background.  The companion application must be running for the Excel Add-in to function.

Installation is via simple dmg installer.  From a Apple Mac computer, click to download the dmg installer.

Open the dmg and follow the instruction to drag the Exponam icon onto the Applications Folder icon.

From the Finder, launch Exponam.Connect within Applications.

The Exponam.Connect application will start.

Follow the instructions which appear in the first time use screens. 

You will be instructed to add the Exponam.Connect application to your user Login Items.  This is ensure that the Exponam.Connect application is always running on your machine in the background.  The application must be running for the Excel Add-in to operate.  Note that the application, in idle state, utilizes minimal machine resources and will not interfere with any other applications or operations.

Within Excel, select Exponam.Connect from Excel’s “Add-ins” tool-strip option.  This will enable the “Import from Delta Sharing” tool on Excel’s Home tab.  You will need to enable to Add-in every time Excel is launched.

Mac Exponam.Connect Use

Click the “Import from Delta Sharing” button to open the Exponam.Connect task pane.  The pane opens as a narrow window on the right side of Excel.  Drag the pane edge to expand it across Excel.

Click the (+) button to add shares by selecting a .share file.

Click the share in the Connections pane to expand the navigation tree.  Click a table to generate a preview of the data. 

You can create filters and save views for repeat use.

Once you are satisfied with your filters, you can import the data by clicking “Import to Excel.”
